What Zhongda actually is

Zhongda is a large textile trading district in the Haizhu district, made up of dozens of specialised sub-markets rather than one building, with a very large number of vendors and a significant annual trading volume. It grew from informal street trading over decades into today’s more organised, increasingly digitised market complex.

Getting there

Zhongda sits on the same metro line that runs through Pazhou — a short hop of a few stops, making it by far the quickest specialised market to reach from the fair complex of any covered in this guide.

A change worth checking before you go

Since around 2019, the city has been relocating parts of the textile supply chain out of central Guangzhou to a nearby city, as part of a longer-term redevelopment plan for the district. What’s moving is the lower tier — small sewing workshops and warehousing that used to sit alongside the fabric trade — not the fabric trading itself, which continues to operate. The practical effect: the old habit of buying fabric and having it sewn into a sample right around the corner is becoming less reliable, even though the market itself remains open for business.
