Canton Fair or a Guangzhou market for toys and baby products?

The Canton Fair’s third phase covers this under its Toys and Children, Baby and Maternity Products sections — but outside the fair, the three don’t share a market.

Toys: Yide Road and OneLink

Toys have a genuine wholesale home in Guangzhou, in the Yide Road commercial district and the nearby OneLink International Plaza, both in the Yuexiu district — the same general area covered for gifts and festive products elsewhere in this guide.

One claim worth being sceptical of: some sources describe this as China’s largest toy wholesale hub. It isn’t — that reputation more plausibly belongs to Yiwu, and Chenghai in Guangdong’s own Shantou is the country’s best-known toy manufacturing base. Guangzhou’s toy market is genuinely useful and much closer if you’re already in the city, just not the national leader in this specific product.

Baby products: no confirmed market

Baby and maternity gear — strollers, car seats, bottles, and similar products — doesn’t appear to have a dedicated wholesale market in Guangzhou that this guide could confirm. If this is your main line, sourcing is more likely to run through factories directly or through the fair itself, rather than a walk-in market visit.

Children’s clothing: a different cluster entirely

Children’s wear, shoes, and accessories have their own market, separate from both the toy market above and the adult clothing markets covered elsewhere in this guide: a cluster along Zhongshan 8th Road in the Liwan district, with several named buildings specialising in kids’ clothing, footwear, and accessories.

Getting there: the Zhongshan 8th Road cluster has its own metro stop, making it straightforward to reach directly.

What actually differs from buying at the fair

Across all three of these, the usual pattern holds: a market sells finished stock in flexible quantities you take with you, while the fair works through manufacturer contracts — your own branding, larger orders, and safety or import certification built into the deal, which matters more for toys and baby products than for almost any other category in this guide, given how heavily both are regulated on import in most markets.

Verdict: which one fits your order

A Guangzhou market makes more sense if you know exactly which of the three sub-categories you need, you’re buying a smaller order of existing designs, and your target market doesn’t require certification you can’t get from a market stall.

The fair makes more sense if you need your own branding, a larger order, or the safety and compliance certification that toy and baby-product imports usually require — and it’s close to the only realistic route for baby gear specifically, given the lack of a confirmed market for it.
